Kai was found innocent in a court of law after being accused of killing 273 people.TIM paid off the judge and jury of course. Kai was later successfully prosecuted for stealing Rice Krispies from his local grocery store. The store's security camera footage was indisputable.

Why does everyone hate him? He not only managed to kill a drell, he killed Thane himself! I know Thane was sick and all but he was at a very good fighting condition at the moment! AND he almost killed Shep! How awesome can you be.
And he looks simply bad ass, my second favorite character in the ME series

I think it's mostly the people who haven't read the books. He came off as a total badass in them. I guess a lot of the hate comes from all the cut scenes you get when he turns up so you can't just fight him :)
